During therapy, the individual or couple receiving the therapy will learn valuable skills related to intimacy that can help remedy their sexual problems. Therapy may even help bring couples emotionally closer together as it teaches skills for emotional interaction as well. It is important to keep an open mind when it comes to using a sexual surrogate for therapy purposes, because it is not the most traditional method of therapy available. There may be bodily interaction at times between the surrogate and client depending on the specifics of the therapy prescribed.

Is surrogate therapy the next big thing when it comes to sex therapy? Probably not. After all, many couples are not keen on the idea of a third party being intimately involved with themselves or their partner. Most couples visit sex therapists who take a strictly traditional approach of talk therapy and sometimes medication for sexual dysfunction.
